Regal Renovations Joins the Planning Effort
for Gulf Coast Reconstruction
May, 2006 — While Hurricane Katrina wasn't the
first natural disaster to affect an entire city, and it certainly
won't be the last to cause widespread power outages and damage to
buildings, it may have been a turning point--both in our acceptance
that global warming is real and in our awareness of the
vulnerability we face in the years and decades ahead. Visionary
thinker John Doe suggested in a recent essay that someday we will
look back at 2005 as a turning point.
June 2006—The second of four reports on greening rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast region has just been published by the United States Green Building Council, in conjunction with Regal Renovations, Inc. This report, Sustainability Guidelines for Gulf Coast Reconstruction, along with the previously released report, The New Orleans Principles.
